In a world that often feels fast paced and divided by differences, International Day of Charity reminds us of the true value of giving back. Whether it’s through volunteering, or supporting local causes, this day is a global call to action for businesses and individuals alike.

For staffing firms, it’s a unique opportunity to strengthen connections within your community while showcasing the values that set your company apart. After all, success isn’t just measured by placements, but by the difference you make in people’s lives.

This year, we at Allied Insight decided to roll up our sleeves and make a difference for International Day of Charity. Ready to make a meaningful impact? Let’s explore ways to turn your success into positive change for your community.

What is International Day of Charity?

The International Day of Charity was established by the United Nations in 2012 and is celebrated annually on September 5th. This date marks the anniversary of Mother Teresa’s death, who is celebrated as a symbol of compassion and selfless giving.

Mother Teresa, born Anjezë Gonxhe Bojaxhiu on August 26, 1910, was a Catholic nun who founded the Missionaries of Charity in 1950. This organization runs programs around the world, including homes for the dying, schools, orphanages, and soup kitchens. The Missionaries of Charity helps people suffering from diseases like tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS, and their work extends to family and children’s counseling as well.

This is an excellent opportunity for you to give back to your community. Think about what causes interest your organization. You can encourage various charitable activities to allow your team members to support causes that resonate with them personally.

How to Get Involved in International Day of Charity?

The International Day of Charity is a perfect chance for people and communities to show kindness and support charitable efforts.

Here are some ways to celebrate this special day:

Give a financial donation.

Consider giving money to a trusted charity that supports causes you care about. Even a small amount can help a lot when added to other donations.

Look for organizations in your area that matter to you and donate to support their efforts.

Participate in service.

Put your time and abilities to good use by volunteering for a charity. You might work at a food bank, participate in community cleanups, or mentor students from underprivileged backgrounds. Find local charities or search online for volunteer opportunities that fit what you enjoy and do best.

Share the information.

Use social media and other communication tools to spread the word about International Day of Charity. Share stories of kindness, talk about different charitable projects, and encourage people to get involved. Use hashtags like #InternationalDayofCharity and #CharityDay to help more people see the message and inspire them to participate.

Plan and host events.

Gather your friends, family, and community to host a fundraising event. From a charity run and bake sale to a benefit concert, these events raise money for a good cause and encourage unity and a shared purpose. Connect with local businesses for support and promote your event through social media and local media channels.

Get your workplace involved.

Motivate your workplace to take part in International Charity Day. Work with your colleagues to set up a fundraising event, such as a charity auction, donation drive, or volunteer day, where employees dedicate their time to a local charity.

Lead by example and inspire others.

Be a driving force for change by sharing your charitable experiences and motivating others to join in.

Write a blog post, create a social media update, or organize a local community event to spark action. Feature stories of those making a difference and highlight the positive results they’ve achieved.

A Worldwide Gesture of Generosity: Celebrating Charity Day with Allied Insight

At Allied Insight, our journey has been a thrilling roller coaster of highs and lows. Since we started, we’ve faced many challenges and celebrated many victories. As we reflect on our journey, we recognize that we have been fortunate to experience countless blessings along the way. Because of this, we are driven by a strong desire to give back and make a meaningful impact on those around us.

This year, our Founder and CEO, Jeff Pelliccio, launched a special initiative to celebrate the International Day of Charity. This project shows our commitment to supporting our local communities and extends our spirit of generosity on a global scale.

To celebrate this special day, our efforts included donations to different charities across the countries where we operate and provided our team members with the opportunity to volunteer with local organizations that resonate with their passions.

Through the hard work and dedication of our entire team, Allied Insight proudly donated to nine foundations around the globe, including:

Our Way of Giving: The Story Behind Our Charity Work

With the local foundations we supported, everyone pitched in to volunteer their time with charities in their respective countries.

Giving Hope to Street Children

Street children in the Philippines face significant barriers to education due to poverty, often lacking access to basic needs like food, shelter, and healthcare. These children risk being left behind without the support they need to thrive.

That’s why our team partnered with the Childhope Foundation, which focuses on providing these children with the education and resources necessary to overcome poverty.

Our initiative focused on practical educational support with a math lesson where a street educator conducted a basic addition lesson, demonstrating how learning can occur outside traditional classrooms. We also organized a “Math Hop Game,” where children solved math problems while engaging in physical activity. This approach made learning both fun and memorable.

The activity wasn’t just about play—it engaged the children in learning. The day ended with us distributing snacks and school kits, giving these children supplies and hope for a brighter future through education. It was a rewarding day filled with learning, laughter, and community support.

Helping Abused Women and Children Rebuild Their Lives

In Nigeria, domestic abuse leaves many women and children displaced and vulnerable, often without access to basic necessities or education. These individuals need comprehensive support to rebuild their lives and break the cycle of abuse.

Our team in Nigeria partnered with The Shola Adefolalu Gaska Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting survivors of domestic abuse. The foundation provides crucial financial, emotional, and spiritual support to help these families recover and thrive.

It was truly heartwarming when they informed us that Allied Insight’s contribution was the second-largest donation they had received in a long time. With this support, the foundation provided meals and, most importantly, enrolled displaced children in school—something they had wanted to do for a while.

Before our donation, they could only afford to send one child to school, even though four others needed to be enrolled. Our support allowed them to take a big step forward, giving these children the chance at an education while continuing to provide food, housing, and care for the women and children under their care.

Supporting Education with The Citizens Foundation

The lack of quality education often traps those from lower socioeconomic backgrounds in a cycle of poverty. To tackle this issue, we supported The Citizens Foundation (TCF) in Pakistan, an organization dedicated to breaking this cycle through education.

TCF goes beyond building state-of-the-art schools by creating an inclusive ecosystem that supports comprehensive student development.

TCF stands out for its commitment to excellence and gender equality. It establishes schools in urban slums and rural areas, with an all-female faculty and a 50 percent female-student ratio, promoting gender balance in education.

Supporting TCF means investing in a future where every child, regardless of background, has the opportunity to succeed. TCF’s students receive an education comparable to that of private school peers, preparing them to pursue their dreams and contribute positively to society.

Our contribution to TCF is more than just a donation; it’s a step toward building a more equitable Pakistan—one student at a time.
