TempNet’s Fall Conference returns September 16-18, 2026, at the Omni Providence Hotel in Providence, Rhode Island, and this year we have a closer seat than usual.1 Our own Founder and CEO, Jeff Pelliccio, is speaking, which means we’re not just watching this conference from the outside, we’re inside the room where these conversations happen.

Before the event, let’s get into what TempNet conferences tend to signal for the independent staffing world, and what we’re specifically listening for as marketers, not just as attendees.

What TempNet Usually Signals for the Industry

TempNet is a members-only association built around independent staffing firms sharing what’s working in a non-competing, confidential setting.2 Its conferences run twice a year, and the sessions tend to track whatever independent firms are wrestling with in the moment, whether that’s leadership, sales differentiation, or marketing.

Because the format stays intimate and peer-driven, the conversations that surface at TempNet tend to surface in the broader staffing industry a few months later. We pay attention here because what independent firms are debating in a private room in September usually becomes what every staffing marketing plan needs to answer by year’s end.

The Signal Behind the Sessions

The full agenda is public, so instead of repeating it, here’s what we think it means for staffing marketing leaders specifically.

  1. Leadership as a retention strategy. Thursday’s keynote, “How to Be a Leader People Want to Work For” from Lia Garvin, frames leadership skill as the thing that keeps people from leaving. That’s not just an HR topic. When leadership becomes a retention lever, it becomes part of the employer brand story marketing has to tell, both to candidates and to the recruiters a firm is trying to keep.
  1. Differentiation in a crowded market. Friday’s keynote, “Be Better Than Your Competition” from John Ruffini, tackles how recruiters build trust and stand out when every firm is chasing the same candidates and clients. For marketing, that’s the same problem stated a different way: differentiation on the recruiting floor and differentiation in a firm’s positioning are the same fight, fought in different rooms.
  1. Marketing is moving from scattered to intentional. The Marketing Innovation Showcase brings four staffing-focused marketing voices together to talk about the shift from disconnected tactics to a repeatable growth approach, exactly the kind of conversation staffing marketing directors are usually starved for. We’d argue this is the session most likely to reshape how firms plan their next 12 months, not just their next campaign.

We approach our own event strategies the same way we’re watching this one unfold, treating a conference as a content opportunity that starts well before the doors open. If that’s a conversation you want to have in person, find us in Providence →

What We’re Watching for on the Floor

Beyond the keynotes, Jeff will be one of four speakers at Friday’s Marketing Innovation Showcase, presenting a fast-paced look at how staffing firms are rethinking their marketing approach. We’re curious to see how the other three perspectives compare, and where the room pushes back.

We’re also planning to spend real time in the “What’s Working for You?” session and the Staffing Innovation Round Tables. Formal keynotes set the theme, but our experience with peer-driven formats like these is that the sharpest, most specific ideas usually surface in the room, not on a slide, and rarely make it into any published agenda.

See You in Providence

If you’re heading to Providence, keep an eye out for the Allied Insight team, we’d love to connect. And if you can’t make it this year, follow TempNet Staffing Association on LinkedIn for updates during the event, and watch for recaps from attendees in your network.3 We’ll be sharing our own takeaways once the conference wraps, so keep an eye on our website and social channels either way.
