Improving Sales Performance: A Marketers Perspective

by | Jun 1, 2021 | Sales Enablement

If you’re on the lookout for sales advice from a marketing person, look no further. In this video, Allied Insight Founder Jeff Pelliccio discusses how to improve sales performance from a marketer’s perspective.

As controversial as it is to have a marketer’s input when the conversation is about driving sales, it’s necessary to have. There are just not enough talks about marketing, enablement sales, and marketing alignment. Sales and marketing are not separate entities for Jeff. At the end of the day, the goal is the same and it boils down to how marketing can drive and impact sales. To achieve the best outcome, there are three important areas to consider.

First, Jeff talks about inclusion. From an inclusive standpoint, bringing the sales team into conversations where marketing is concerned can bridge any gaps of knowledge. You will see an increase in ownership, accountability, and meaningful insight when salespeople are engaged and involved.

Next, education. Jeff emphasizes the importance of including training for a successful rollout of any sales enablement campaign. Making sure that each member of your team is on the same page when it comes to knowledge and training will tie all the loose ends of your campaign together. This will also give opportunities for quality assurance.

Last on the list is authorization. Oftentimes, people in your agency’s marketing team are restricted on what authorization they have. This can be a great obstacle when doing a sales and marketing alignment piece that should pull both of these departments together.

Make sure that you give some authority to the marketing department to ensure that leads are pursued properly, feedback is coming through in the way that it’s supposed to, and all workflow processes are functioning as intended.

By following these simple steps, you’ll see that it only takes a few minor adjustments in leveraging the core pillars to realize the full potential of your departments working together.
